Nostalgia is everywhere at Christmas and theatre companies unabashedly produce shows that speak to simpler, happier times. Louisa May Alcott’s novel, Little Women, set back in the mid 1880s and adapted for stage by American playwright Lauren M. Gunderson, presents a simpler, happier time in the USA.

United Players, the little-theatre-company-that-could, has been punching over its weight for years – but even more so under Sarah Rodgers’ artistic direction. This production, directed by Rodgers, is thoroughly charming, thoroughly delightful.
